Istria Wheel Coin Charm
Drutis Jewellery lives and breathes meaning into its designs. We created this piece with a nod to the past and our heritage. Connecting the past and the present - connecting the modern and the ancient - connecting meaning and jewellery.
Wheel Coin, Istros is an ancient small coin of Istria (an ancient Greek city on the Black Sea). It was made by the method of casting of copper approximately in the 5th century BC.
The Istrian wheel coin was widely used in trade between the Greek settlements of the Black Sea and the neighboring nations.
The name Wheel Coin is very, very conventional. Firstly, we do not know what it was called by its contemporaries more than 2000 years ago. Secondly, the coin could have also represented the Sun.
However, we do not mind a bit of mystery - and breathe meaning into our IΣT rings and charms. This charm twists around so you can flip it whichever way you like the coin facing without having to take it off. Or leave it haflway for a playful twist (pun intended).
We also have added a hidden symbol of eternal love onto our signet ring, so you can carry your love and loved ones with you.
Wheel Coin of Life, Love and Sun - a little bit of heritage on your ears, neck or fingers.
